Job Summary:
The Visual and Performing Arts Center Coordinator is responsible for the overall management, scheduling, and daily operations of the district's Visual and Performing Arts Center. This role ensures the seamless execution of events, performances, and activities while upholding high-quality technical and operational standards. The coordinator oversees facility maintenance, lighting, sound, and other technical aspects to support students, staff, and community partners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned
Event Scheduling & Coordination:
Develop and manage a master calendar for all events, including school performances, rehearsals, community events, and district functions.
Coordinate facility use with school staff, external organizations, and community groups while ensuring compliance with district policies.
Serves as the primary point of contact for facility reservations and event logistics.
Facility Management & Daily Operations:
Oversee the daily operations of the facility, ensuring a safe and efficient environment. Collaborate with district maintenance staff and vendors to ensure timely repairs, preventive maintenance, cleaning, and upkeep of all areas.
• Work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, as determined by the supervisor.
Technical Support & Production Management:
Operate and oversee lighting, sound, projection, and other technical equipment for performances, meetings, and events.
Maintain and inventory technical equipment, recommending upgrades and replacements as needed.
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with district policies, fire codes, and safety regulations. Implement safety protocols for technical operations and facility use. Coordinate security measures and emergency preparedness plans for events.
Budgeting & Administrative Duties:
Assist in developing and managing the arts center's budget, including equipment, maintenance, and operational expenses.
Maintain records and reports of facility usage, work orders, and equipment maintenance.
Qualifications:
Experience in event coordination, theater production, or technical management. Proficiency in operating and maintaining sound, lighting, and multimedia equipment. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a school or educational setting.
Knowledge of theater production, stage management, and audiovisual technology. Ability to train and mentor staff in technical theater operations.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
Frequent standing, walking, and lifting of equipment up to 50 lbs.
Work in dimly lit environments, around high-voltage lighting, and at heights.
• Fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with multiple simultaneous events.
• Regular and punctual attendance is required.
